How Does Sculptra® Work?

Sculptra® Aesthetic is injected into the skin just below the surface. Unlike other dermal fillers that simply add facial volume, this treatment works to stimulate the body’s own production of collagen. Over time, the boost in collagen production naturally softens wrinkles and rebuilds facial volume.

What Areas Can Sculptra® Treat?

Sculptra® Aesthetic is used to restore facial fullness in the cheeks, temples and along the jaw line. This cosmetic injectable can help correct shallow to deep folds and wrinkles on the face, including:

  • Smile lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Hollow temples
  • Sagging jowls

Is Sculptra® Aesthetic Safe?

Sculptra® has been used worldwide since 1999, and the cosmetic injectable is FDA approved for use in the United States.

The active ingredient of this dermal filler, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is a synthetic polymer that is naturally absorbed by the body. PLLA has an excellent track record of safety in the surgical industry. In fact, this polymer has been used in dissolvable stitches for over 25 years.

How Many Sculptra® Treatments are Required for Results?

Results from Sculptra® Aesthetic are gradual. This cosmetic injectable doesn’t provide a dramatic, immediate difference in facial fullness. In most cases, patients prefer to have a series of treatment sessions over the course of a few months to achieve the desired improvement in skin volume.

Because results take patience, this cosmetic treatment is typically paired with a hyaluronic acid dermal filler, such as Juvederm®, Restylane® or Belotero Balance®. With these injectables, results can be seen right away.

How Long Do Results from Sculptra® Last?

The results from cosmetic treatments vary from patient to patient. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that patients who choose Sculptra® Aesthetic can see results that last two years or longer. With hyaluronic acid facial fillers, patients can usually expect results to last roughly six to 12 months, according to the FDA.

How Much Does Sculptra® Cost?

The cost of this cosmetic facial treatment depends upon the number of sessions needed as well as the number of injectable vials used during each session.

Although the price can be higher than for other facial fillers, the long-lasting results are less expensive in the long run. Be sure to ask the Beauty Now team about our current promotions.
